Condolences from the President of the European Commission to Greece
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, expressed her condolences to the Greek people in her post about the train accident in Greece, in which 36 people lost their lives and 66 were injured.
Von der Leyen said: “My thoughts are with the people of Greece after the terrible train accident that took place near Larissa last night, which caused loss of life. All Europe mourns you. I also wish a speedy recovery to all the injured. We are with you,” he said.
DOZENS OF PEOPLE LOSE THEIR LIVES
A passenger train and a freight train collided near the Greek city of Larissa. In the latest statement made by the Greek fire department, it was stated that the number of people who lost their lives rose to 36.
A total of 66 people were reported to be under treatment at the hospital, and 6 of them were in serious condition. Search and rescue efforts continue at the crash site.
