Biden: Americans overpay for prescription drugs
US President Biden spoke about health policy at a program he attended in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
“Americans pay more for prescription drugs than any other nation in the world.” Biden said, noting that healthcare expenses are a huge burden on the American people.
For this reason, Biden affirmed that since he took office they have focused on providing adequate health services to more people and reducing medical costs, adding that he believes that they have made significant progress in that regard.
Noting that drug companies raise prices faster than inflation, Biden noted that lowering the cost of prescription drugs will reduce the federal budget deficit and reduce debt by $159 billion.
Biden said Republicans, whose policies he criticizes on health spending, will stop them if they try to cut programs like Medicaid, which allows people to get affordable health care. (AA)
