Motion of no confidence to overthrow the government in Spain

The president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, presented his motion of no confidence in the Presidency of the Assembly, naming Ramón Tames, a former member of the Communist Party of Spain and an economist, as candidate for president of the Government.

At a press conference, Abascal accused the current left-wing coalition government, which he described as “the worst power in history”, of “attacking national unity and opposing the rule of law”, and said that “sitting down and presenting the movement because they will not be part of it.

“SHOULD GO TO ELECTIONS”

In defending that the coalition government, supported from outside by the separatist political parties of the Basque Country and Catalonia, “must end as soon as possible,” said Abascal, “in the face of the electoral fraud of the government that agreed with the ETA members and the coup plotters, there is to remove the government from parliament and call early general elections. he said.

Abascal, who also responded to questions about Tümes, criticized both for his advanced age and for his communist political formation, and who was postulated as Prime Minister, said: “The symbols of national reconciliation, an intellectual, an independent Spaniard with a brilliant past. He is non-partisan, he represents millions of Spaniards “. He used his statements.

The Vox leader demanded that the motion of no confidence be voted on on April 4.

Vox, which is the third largest party with 52 deputies in parliament, made a similar attempt in October 2020, but it failed.

EXPECTED TO FAIL

The latest attempt by Vox, which has not had the support of any political party in parliament, is expected to fail.

Alberto Núñez Feijoo, leader of the main opposition Popular Party (PP), accused Vox of “turning the assembly into a circus by putting on a show.”

The local elections will be held in the assemblies of 12 autonomous governments and of the entire country on May 28 in Spain.

General elections will normally be held in November. (AA)
