Assessment of the critical meeting of the Prime Minister of Serbia

Vucic addressed the people of Serbia regarding the critical meeting to be held in Brussels today in the video he posted on his social media account.

Noting that he completed the necessary preparations for the meeting, Vucic said: “I would like to thank the ‘small group’ who trust the Serbian administration and think the government will do the best for them.”

Pointing to the meeting where the Franco-German Plan, which is supported by all US and EU members, will be discussed, Vucic said: “I have something to say to those who accuse us of treason because we will sign some documents and those who they argue that we will return to the 90s with documents that we will not sign. Don’t worry. There will be no capitulation and we will not go back to the 90s,” he said.

Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti will meet Borrell in a tripartite meeting. The meeting will discuss the EU proposals for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.

I TRIED TO FIND A COMMON WAY

The EU demands that Kosovo and Serbia reach a final agreement that can solve the problems between the two countries for the progress of the integration process in the Union.

Finally, the parties are negotiating the text known as the “Franco-German Plan”, which has the support of all US and EU members. According to the plan, which was leaked to the media, Kosovo must allow the establishment of the Union of Serb Municipalities in the country’s municipalities where the majority of Serbs live.

Prime Minister Kurti indicated that he would consider the establishment of the Union of Serbian Municipalities in early February if some conditions he put forward are met.

Serbia is required to respect Kosovo’s territorial integrity and allow it to become a member of international organizations.

Serbia considers Kosovo, which unilaterally declared its independence in 2008, as its territory.
Serbia and Kosovo, which come into conflict from time to time, are trying to find a common path for the normalization of relations and, finally, for the two countries to get to know each other, within the framework of the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue Process launched in 2011 under the mediation of the EU.
