Demonstrations were held around the world for the first year of the Russia-Ukraine War.

The war between Russia and Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022, has passed a year. According to the statement made by the United Nations Organization (UN); 8,066 civilians lost their lives and 13,287 people were injured as a result of the war.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, in his recent statement, also recalled that many people lost their lives due to the conflicts in eastern Ukraine before.

Emphasizing that approximately 18 million people in Ukraine are in need of humanitarian support, Türk stated that approximately 14 million people have been displaced from their homes.

As the war between the two countries continued, a year passed and demonstrations were held in many different cities around the world, accompanied by calls for peace.

Located in Chicago, United States, St. Volodymyr and Olha Church, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine War, commemorated those who lost their lives in the war and held a show of support for Ukraine.

The event was also attended by the mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot.

Ukrainians and Mexicans gathered around the Angel of Independence statue in the Mexican capital, Mexico, and held a demonstration for the first year of the Ukraine-Russia War.

They gathered in front of the Russian Embassy in Washington, the US capital, for the Ukraine-Russia War. The flag of Ukraine was projected on the building of the Russian Embassy. Candles were lit during the show and those who lost their lives in the war were commemorated.

Various events were held in Helsinki, the capital of Finland.

Finnish inventor Janne Kapylehto, Ukrainian activist Tiina Saukko, President of the Ukrainian Association in Finland Vassili Goutsoul and one of the association’s members Nadiia Fedorova exhibited their artwork with Ukrainian flags in Töölö Bay in memory of the 450 children who died in the war.

The state archives of the National Institute of Memory of Ukraine on the decommunization of Ukraine were exhibited in Lviv, Ukraine.

A meeting was held at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, the capital of France, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the war between Russia and Ukraine. The ceremony was also attended by senior officials, in which a symbolic bonfire was lit.

A demonstration for peace was held in Italy.

In Krakow, Poland, those who lost their lives in the war were commemorated and a show of support for Ukraine was held. Protesters gathered in front of the Russian consulate in Krakow.

On the streets of Budapest, protesters marched towards the Russian Embassy.

An anti-war demonstration was also held in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
