The war between Russia and Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022, has passed a year. According to the statement made by the United Nations Organization (UN); 8,066 civilians lost their lives and 13,287 people were injured as a result of the war.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, in his recent statement, also recalled that many people lost their lives due to the conflicts in eastern Ukraine before.

Emphasizing that approximately 18 million people in Ukraine are in need of humanitarian support, Türk stated that approximately 14 million people have been displaced from their homes.

As the war between the two countries continued, a year passed and demonstrations were held in many different cities around the world, accompanied by calls for peace.

Located in Chicago, United States, St. Volodymyr and Olha Church, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine War, commemorated those who lost their lives in the war and held a show of support for Ukraine.

The event was also attended by the mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot.


Ukrainians and Mexicans gathered around the Angel of Independence statue in the Mexican capital, Mexico, and held a demonstration for the first year of the Ukraine-Russia War.

A meeting was held at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, the capital of France, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the war between Russia and Ukraine. The ceremony was also attended by senior officials, in which a symbolic bonfire was lit.
