Additional US Security Assistance to Ukraine

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said Ukraine will receive an additional $2 billion in security assistance.

Speaking on CNN’s “CNN Town Hall,” Sullivan said US President Joe Biden’s visit to Ukraine brought new aid including more ammunition and high technology within the scope of aid to this country. “The United States today announced an additional $2 billion security aid package for Ukraine,” Sullivan said.

Regarding Ukraine’s demand for F-16 fighter jets, Sullivan noted that Ukraine is about to launch a major counterattack and they do not believe that F-16s are key capabilities within the scope of these strikes. “The F-16s are not about a short-term war,” Sullivan said. It is a question of the long-term defense of Ukraine, ”she said, adding that Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy discussed the issue in this way.

The United States is expected to announce new sanctions on Russia on February 24, the anniversary of the war. (AA)
