Zelensky’s ‘negotiation’ signal to China
Ukrainian President Zelenskiy held a joint press conference with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, who arrived in the capital kyiv for talks.
Regarding China’s peace plan on the Russia-Ukraine war, “I know general things. I have not seen the document. It is premature to comment on this document.” Zelenskiy said: “It is good” that China has made such an attempt.
Asked if he would like to meet with President Xi Jinping, Zelenskiy said: “We would like to meet with China. This will be in the interest of Ukraine. The more countries support the ‘peace formula’, the faster it will be implemented”. saying.
Underlining that Ukraine should meet with China, Zelenskiy said: “We gave this signal at the level of diplomats.” he said.
When asked if countries are putting pressure on Ukraine to negotiate with Russia, Zelensky replied:
“The pressure was mainly before the war. After the start of the extensive attacks, everyone understood what kind of Russia, not a state, but a terrorist organization that came to kill and occupy the lands. In time, everyone saw the result of the invasion, probably the most brutal in the last 80 years. Therefore, everyone understood that the destruction of Ukraine was in doubt.”
Zelenskiy added that there is no point in putting pressure on Ukraine.
“WE ARE NOT ATTACKING RUSSIA”
Sánchez has also indicated that Spain’s military material support for Ukraine will continue, and that they will increase to 10 the number of Leopard 2A4 type tanks that they plan to send to this country at the end of March or beginning of April in the coming weeks or months.
“Spain and Europe are on Ukraine’s side and Ukraine will win. Because the people of Ukraine are determined to defend their land and they are not alone. Putin has openly attacked Ukraine. What we do as the EU is to protect an attacked people, we are not attacking Russia”. saying.
Sánchez became the third foreign leader to visit Ukraine this week, after US President Joe Biden and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. (AA)
