dead bird flu in the country
An 11-year-old girl died at the hospital where she was treated in Cambodia due to the bird flu called H5N1.
The Cambodian Ministry of Health reported that a boy living in a village in the town of Prey Veng was taken to a hospital in the capital Phnom Penh on February 16 with complaints of cough, sore throat and fever of up to 39 degrees, and died despite the intervention. It should be noted that the case in question is the first case of bird flu in Cambodia since 2014.
The ministry also indicated that samples were taken from wild birds in the area where the girl who lost her life lived, and that dead or sick birds were warned not to touch them. Cambodian Health Minister Mam Bunheng said bird flu poses a high risk to children who collect eggs from domestic poultry.
According to the World Health Organization, there were 56 cases of bird flu in Cambodia between 2003 and 2014, 37 of which resulted in death. (AA)
