Israelis and Palestinians have launched back-and-forth attacks following the Israeli army’s bloody invasion of the West Bank on Wednesday. Rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip, to which Israel responded with air strikes against targets belonging to the Palestinian movement Hamas.
The Israeli army says it has hit an arms factory and a Hamas military base. They are said to be near a mosque, a school and a medical clinic, Israel says, demonstrating that Hamas “exploits civilians in Gaza by deliberately planting weapons in civilian areas.”
A few hours earlier, the Israeli army had reported that six rockets had been fired from the Gaza Strip. He allegedly intercepted five, the last one ‘fell in an open area’.
Tensions are rising
Israeli forces killed eleven Palestinians in a raid in Nablus on Wednesday. At least 100 people were injured. It was the most violent raid in recent years. When nine Palestinians were killed in a raid last month, Hamas too responded with rockets. Since then, tensions have certainly not subsided and attacks and lootings have followed one another.
