Israeli Army Airstrike: Targeting Gaza Strip

The raid by Israeli forces on the occupied West Bank city of Nablus yesterday, which killed 11 Palestinians, including a child, has heightened tensions in the region.

In a written statement by the Israeli army, it was stated that 6 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip towards southern Israel, 5 of them were destroyed by air defense systems and one rocket fell in open ground. Attack sirens were reportedly sounded in the cities of Sderot and Ashkelon around the Gaza Strip.

In its second statement, the Israeli army announced that some targets in the Gaza Strip, including weapons depots allegedly belonging to the Palestinian resistance organization Hamas, were attacked by Israeli warplanes early in the morning.

In the statement, it was claimed that the attacks were carried out in retaliation for rockets fired at Israel at night.

No information was shared on whether there were any casualties or injuries in the blockaded Gaza Strip.
