Critical contact between Russia and China

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Vang Yi, head of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Commission for Foreign Relations, who is China’s highest-ranking diplomat.

Speaking at the beginning of the meeting held in the capital Moscow, Lavrov said that relations between Russia and China are developing steadily and dynamically. Noting that these relations have developed despite the “great turbulence” on the world stage, Lavrov said: “We show that we are ready to act in solidarity and defend the interests of others, on the basis of respect for international law and the central role of the United Nations”.

Lavrov congratulated Vang on his appointment as head of the CPC Central Committee on Foreign Relations.

Wang, for his part, said he was ready to exchange views on issues of mutual interest, saying, “I am looking forward to reaching new agreements.” Noting that they will resolutely pursue an independent foreign policy, Vang said that he will implement their opening-up strategy more in the spirit of mutual benefit and victory.

Vang expressed the opinion that “through the modernization of China, we will open new horizons for the development of cooperation not only with Russia, but also with all countries of the world, we will enrich the essence of interaction with all partners.” (AA)
