Ukraine Statement of Agreement: We will ask Turkey and the UN
While the war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on since February 24, 2022, there were notable statements from top Ukrainian officials today.
Shortly before the expiry of the United Nations-brokered grain deal with Turkey, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Reparations Yuriy Vaskov spoke to Britain’s Reuters news agency.
Speaking about the grain deal, which was extended in November and will expire on March 18, Vaskov said: “This week, we will ask Turkey and the United Nations to start negotiations for the renewal of the grain deal.” Vaskov also stated that the agreement will be requested to be extended for at least one year.
Saying that an official request will be made this week, Vaskov did not give any information about the date or place of the talks held in Turkey last time. “This time, we will demand that the agreement be extended not just for 120 days, but for at least 1 year,” Vaskov said.
