Fairfax District Fire Department search and rescue team dispatched from the US to Turkey is back

As part of the work of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the team of approximately 90 people involved in search and rescue activities in Turkey was received by Turkey’s ambassador to Washington, Murat Mercan, the president of USAID, Samantha Power, and their families.

Mercan, who shook hands with the search and rescue team at the entrance to the ceremony area, said: “We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are grateful to him for everything he did after the earthquakes in Turkey”. saying.

Mercan said: “We are grateful to him for being one of the first to rescue those who were trapped under the rubble a few hours after the first earthquake. We are grateful to them for risking their lives, having to take a break from their homes and leaving their families behind for this humanitarian cause.” he said.

Emphasizing the American people’s support for the Turkish people in the earthquake disaster, Mercan said, “The American people stood by us, the Turkish people in these earthquakes. My country, Turkey, will never forget the support and assistance provided by its friends, partners, and allies in the United States.” he used his statements.

USAID President Samantha Power also thanked the search and rescue team for their dedicated work.

Noting that the team worked in the earthquake zone in incredible conditions, including freezing temperatures, Power said, “By going there early and being there first, it showed the reality of our commitment to our friends in Turkey and Syria. You have served your country well.” he said.

The search and rescue team of the Fairfax Regional Fire Department arrived in Turkey on February 8 after the earthquakes and participated in the search and rescue efforts in Adıyaman. (AA)
