German search and rescue dog pulls 60 people out of rubble
Immediately after the earthquake, Uwe Elze, who showed up at the Turkish consulate with his specially trained dog Pia and went to Kahramanmaraş, helped find 60 people under the rubble.
When Pia reached 60 people, she returned to Germany after the rescue efforts. The owner couldn’t hold back the tears as she described those days.

The man, who went to Turkey from Germany, said they managed to save 60 people with their dog.
Placing her hand over her heart, Elze said, “We are all human. We are in despair, hope and surprise for days. We could not count the number of dead that came out of the rubble, ”he says.

Elze, who applied to the Hannover Consulate when she heard about the quake on the news, said she left for the quake zone 12 hours later by plane.
Explaining that they couldn’t find time to rest after they started working in the wreckage area and woke up with their hats frozen in the morning, Elze said she couldn’t believe the solidarity, sincerity and gratitude of the local people. Elze said: “There, people hug us. They bring food to Pia without us asking for anything.”
