Canada joins the EU defense project
According to the European Council statement, Canada’s participation in the PESCO project called “Support Network for Logistics Centers and Operations in Europe” (NetLogHubs) has been approved by the EU countries.
It is stated that the project coordinator, Germany, will invite Canada, which applied in May 2022, to participate in the project.
In the European Council statement, it was stated that Canada would bring significant added value to the project.
The defense project, called NetLogHubs, will aim to use existing logistics facilities to prepare supplies for operations, warehouses for spare parts and ammunition, and to harmonize shipping and distribution activities.
The network to be established is intended to reduce reaction time for military operations, increase capacity and sustainability.
It is claimed that this project is closely related to another PESCO project in the field of military transport. It was reported that the USA, Norway and England would also participate in the project in the field of military transport.
The EU administration sees PESCO as one of the main lines of the EU defense policy. PESCO includes 25 EU member states. PESCO projects are intended to serve as a framework for EU defense cooperation.
PESCO participating countries are working to develop joint defense capabilities, coordinate investments, and increase the operational readiness and resilience of armed forces. (AA)
