UK Development Minister Mitchell: Turkey can expect full support from global community
Mitchell, who came to Turkey and visited the seismic zones after the earthquakes centered on Kahramanmaraş, spoke to the AA correspondent.
During his visit, Mitchell reviewed the work of the British medical teams at the field hospital he set up in the Türkoğlu district of Kahramanmaraş, England, and thanked the Turkish and British teams for their cooperation.
Stating that the international community must provide very strong support at each different stage of this disaster, Mitchell said: “Turkey has many friends, especially England.” he said.
Mitchell stated that England has been with Turkey since the beginning of the disaster, noting that Britain has sent humanitarian aid materials and a 77-person search and rescue team to Turkey.
Saying that 150 specialists from England are working in the field, including the field hospital and emergency medicine clinics, Mitchell described the quake-hit areas as “absolutely terrifying”.

“We got here as fast as we could and we are determined to help Turkey get through this terrible disaster,” Mitchell said. He said that more than 2,700 earthquake victims were treated at the field hospital in less than a week.
TURKEY-ENGLAND RELATIONS
Using the expression “close friends” about relations between Turkey and England, Mitchell said: “We have strong political ties. We have security connections. We are the main NATO partners. We are as close to Turkey as anyone else,” he said. .
Emphasizing that the British people are also mobilized for the victims of the earthquake, Mitchell said that citizens have raised 85 million pounds from their own pockets and that shows the closeness of the relationship between the two countries.

After the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, England sent a 77-person search and rescue team and then a field hospital with an emergency medical response team to work in Turkey.
