Some 20,000 people demonstrated at the Security Conference held this weekend in the southern German city of Munich. They protested, among other things, against arms deliveries by NATO countries to Ukraine and for an early end to the war in that country. The demonstrations were largely peaceful and took place “without significant incidents,” police said.
At the security conference, forty heads of state and government and nearly a hundred ministers mainly discussed how to end the war in Ukraine. The Eastern European country was overrun almost a year ago by neighboring Russia.
The annual meeting is traditionally accompanied by rallies and protests. Last year, these mainly concerned climate action and corona measures.
