UN: Israel’s decision violates international law
Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary General, answered a question at his daily press briefing about the UN response to the illegal settlements in Tel Aviv.
“The UN position on the settlements is very clear, we emphasize that they go against international law and undermine the peace process,” Haq said. he made the statement.
Noting that they are behind the initiatives that support this position, Haq recalled that they also support the meeting of the Middle East Quartet to discuss the issue, but that all parties must make a decision for this to be possible.
EXPECTED TO BE ADDRESSED AT THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL
The issue of Israel’s illegal settlement expansion is expected to be on the agenda of the UN Security Council meeting on the Middle East to be held in New York on February 20.
