Mitsotakis: Our support for the Turkish people will continue
Greek Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis stated that he believed that the positive atmosphere in bilateral relations after the earthquakes that affected 11 provinces, whose epicenter was the Pazarcık and Elbistan districts of Kahramanmaraş, could lead to an improvement in relations between Turkey and Greece.
Answering questions from members of the press in Kozani, Miçotakis expressed his satisfaction and pride in the Greek search and rescue teams saving lives in Turkey.
Mitsotakis noted that Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu had taken note of the statements that there could be an improvement in bilateral relations, adding: “We have disagreements. (These) can be resolved on the basis of international law and in a way that respects good neighborly relations. In short, I believe in the affective bond between our peoples, as demonstrated by this tragedy. I really believe that maybe something better can come out of this drama for Turkish-Greek relations,” he said.
Noting that he believes that the Greek people will continue to support the Turkish people, Miçotakis said that Greece will play its role as a neighboring country in the effort to rebuild the regions affected by the earthquake. (AA)
