Over 88 million euros were raised on the Giro555 for the populations affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. This was announced in the Sound & Vision action center in Hilversum during the national day of action.
More than 170 well-known Dutch people were distributed throughout the day from early in the morning until eleven in the evening, along with many other volunteers. Sound & Vision in Hilversum was the center of action for Giro555.
Michiel Servaes, president of the Giro555 action: ‘It’s amazing how much money has been given throughout the Netherlands. Many people have taken action by calling our panel, donating online, but actions have also been organized throughout the country by young and old. And all that money is badly needed and is well spent on emergency aid in Turkey and Syria.’
Giro555 remains open for earthquake victims.
