Albania and North Macedonia declare mourning for earthquake

As part of the 1-day national mourning decision declared by the governments of Albania and North Macedonia, the flags of state institutions and public places in both countries were lowered to half mast.

In this context, the diplomatic representations of the countries abroad also lowered their flags to half mast.

In accordance with the decision taken by the Albanian government, national mourning was declared in the country today, while the flags at state institutions were lowered to half mast.

THE FLAG AT NATO HEADQUARTERS HAS BEEN SAINTED

In addition, the Albanian flag at NATO headquarters was lowered to half mast.

Albanian President Bajram Begaj shared a photo of the Albanian flag cut in half in front of the presidential building on his social media account, expressing his solidarity with and praying for the families affected by the earthquakes on the Turkey-Syria border.

Begaj said: “Albanians will never forget Turkey’s assistance in the earthquake that took place in Albania on November 29, 2019.” he used his statements.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama also shared a photo of the flag being lowered at half mast at the Council of Ministers building on his social media account.

The Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also posted a clip about the earthquakes in KahramanmaraÅŸ on its Twitter account.

In the clip, flags are seen at half mast in many countries.

The Albanian government had declared a one-day national mourning decision on February 13, two days ago, due to the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes centered on KahramanmaraÅŸ that affected 10 provinces.
