Berlin election results announced

In the state assembly elections held in the state of Berlin in Germany, the Christian Democratic Union Party (CDU) came first with 28.2 percent of the vote.

The Electoral Commission has announced the provisional results of the elections to the Berlin State Assembly. Consequently, the CDU increased its votes by 10.2 points to 28.2 percent compared to the elections held in 2021 and became the first party.

Among the parties of the current government in the state, the voting rate of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) decreased 3 points to 18.4 percent, while that of the Green Party decreased 0.5 points to 18.4 percent.

The SPD became the second party with 105 more votes than the Greens.

The Left party, which is the third partner of the current government, lost 1.9 points compared to the elections a year and a half ago and obtained 12.2 percent of the votes. The Muslim, anti-immigrant Alternative for Germany (AfD) party increased its vote rate by 1.1 points compared to previous elections and re-entered parliament with 9.1 percent.

The Free Democratic Party (FPD), on the other hand, lost 2.5 points compared to the 2021 elections and obtained 4.6 percent of the votes and was left out of parliament by not exceeding the electoral threshold of 5 percent.

13 CANDIDATES OF TURKISH ORIGIN ENTERED THE PARLIAMENT

Following the aforementioned results, Ersin Nas, Emine Demirbüken-Wegner and Timur Husein from CDU, Orkun Özdemir from SPD, Derya Çağlar, Sebahat Atlı, Ülker Radziwill, Sevim Aydin, Taylan Kurt from Yeşiller, Tuba Bozkurt, Turgut Altuğ and Elif Eralp and Ferhat Koçak from Left Party were elected deputies.

Nas, who entered parliament for the first time from the CDU and was directly elected as an MP from the 2nd region of Spandau, told Anadolu Agency (AA) that he was elected MP with the great support of the people of his region and thanked the citizens. Noting that the people in the constituency gave him a task, Nas stated that he will return this task to parliament in the next term. (AA)
