Fault line seen from satellite: Everything on the line was destroyed by the earthquake
While the number of people who lost their lives in the earthquake felt in many countries in Turkey is increasing with every passing minute, the photos and images shared by US satellite imaging company Maxar reveal the magnitude of the quake.
Maxar collected satellite images taken of the Nurdağı district of Gaziantep before the earthquake and satellite images taken after the earthquake.

In the image shared by Maxar, it was indicated that the line marked with yellow is the fault line of the earthquake. The photograph said: “The crack created by the fault line in the Earth’s surface.”
While the devastating effect of the quake was seen in satellite images obtained by Britain’s Reuters news agency of Maxar, Maxar officials claimed that the fault line also appeared in the images.

The extent of the destruction in Antakya is revealed in current satellite photos shared by Maxar.
A company called Maxar Technologies, which recorded images of some regions of Nurdağı on September 6, 2019, before the earthquake, compared them with images taken on February 7 in the same region.

BUILDINGS ABOVE THE FAULT LINE DAMAGED
The line marked in yellow in the photograph was claimed to be the fault line, and it was stated that “the crack created by the fault line in the Earth’s surface”.

A satellite image taken in Antakya on December 22, 2022 and the image of the same region after the earthquake clashed.
While severe scattering occurred on the road and fields on the line marked as a fault line, the fault line passing under a settlement was seen from satellite to have also damaged buildings on the fault line.

Grain silos in Nurdağı were seen to have been overturned and grain was scattered everywhere.
On the other hand, Maxar reveals the extent of the destruction with the shared “before/after” photos of other cities affected by the earthquake. Comparing it with satellite images taken in 2019 and 2022 of many buildings in Antakya, Maxar compared the extent of the destruction and broadcast it to the public.

In the before/after photo shared by Kırıkhan, it is seen that the grain silos have been destroyed.
It is seen that a grain silo, which was previously taken in September 2021 in Kırıkhan, collapsed after the earthquake and the grains were scattered.
