Spain mobilizes to help the victims of the earthquake in Turkey

The Spanish Parliament and Senate have made a decision calling for active institutional cooperation with Turkey and Syria, affected by the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes.

In the text of the aforementioned decision, condolences were expressed to the relatives of those who died in the earthquake, and it was stated that “we will be in solidarity with all the nations of this tragedy.”

“The people of Spain conveyed their condolences to those who lost their lives in this earthquake and showed their solidarity by mobilizing emergency aid to be sent to Turkey and Syria to participate in the search and rescue efforts for the victims of the earthquake.” The resolution called for the active cooperation of all Spanish institutions for the rescue of the survivors of the earthquake and the reconstruction of the affected areas.

Likewise, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) has announced that it is prepared to provide all kinds of aid to the seismic zones of Turkey and Syria.

Some autonomous governments such as Madrid and Cantabria also provided supplies and financial aid.

The Muslim community of Granada has also spoken through the Great Mosque of Granada Foundation and has started an aid campaign.

On the other hand, the Spanish gave great support to the aid campaigns initiated by the Turkish Embassy in Madrid and the General Consulate in Barcelona.

It was known that at least 20 truckloads of material were collected in the first 24 hours of the campaign alone.

Due to the intense support of the Spanish, some companies in Madrid opened their warehouses because the collected parcels did not fit in the existing collection areas.

Logistics companies such as Ekol, Sampa, İreneo, Trans Junior and Mars, the Hard Rock Hotel, Ikea, El Corte Inglés stores and sports clubs such as Barcelona and Real Madrid also supported the campaign.

The aid will be delivered to Turkey by Turkish Airlines plane, which supports the organization with its staff, or through some logistics companies.

Currently, some 10 Spanish NGOs and Military Emergency Response Teams are working in 10 provinces affected by the earthquake, and it has been claimed that they have played an active role in rescuing at least 6 people alive from the rubble so far. .

While the Spanish government is sending two military ships in its navy to the region, it has also been reported that a plane will take off from Madrid tonight for the establishment of a field hospital. (AA)
