Free service to Turkey from Belgian telecom operators
Some operators, including Belgium’s largest telecommunications company Proximus, reported that calls and SMS from the country to Turkey and Syria were free throughout February due to earthquakes that hit 10 provinces in Kahramanmaraş in total.
In a statement made by Proximus, it was indicated that it was decided to offer free calls and short message services from Belgium to Turkey and Syria to facilitate communication with the victims of the earthquake.
The statement stressed that while the company offered its condolences to the victims of the earthquake, it would support those who have friends and family in Turkey and Syria in the face of the devastating images of the disaster.
In the statement, which drew attention to the seriousness of the situation of people in the regions affected by the earthquake, it was recalled that communication with family and friends is very important at this stage. In the statement, it was emphasized that all Proximus, Scarlet and Mobile Vikings customers were offered free mobile and landline calls and short messages from Belgium to Turkey and Syria throughout February.
