This morning a senior employee of Zelensky’s presidential office reported the news to the Ukrainian media. You see a photo of Dutch Foreign Affairs Committee MPs who were in Kiev at least yesterday to speak in Zelensky’s office. With the main message: the implementation of Zelensky’s Peace Formula, says Hahn.
The photo released by the bureau shows Rudmer Heerema, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Commission, Sjoerd Sjoerdsma, Ruben Brekelmans and Kati Piri, among others.
The presidential office reports the following:
“The Deputy Chief of Cabinet of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva met with a delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lower House of the States General (Parliament) of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Ihor Zhovkva thanked the Dutch parliament for its important decisions to help Ukraine and grant our country the status of a candidate country for the EU.
‘Ukraine is grateful for the considerable assistance provided by the Dutch parliament in countering Russian armed aggression: financially, economically, humanitarianally, militarily and politically. The parliament’s decision to grant Ukraine EU candidate status was of particular significance. The voice of the Netherlands has played a crucial role in reaching a consensus in the European Council on this issue,’ underlined Ihor Zhovkva.
The deputy head of the presidential office briefed Dutch parliamentarians on the current security situation in Ukraine and called for more support for our country in key areas, including the supply of weapons.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the practical implementation of President Zelenskyy’s peace formula, which will serve as a guarantee of security for the European continent.
“Ukraine is fighting for a just peace in the classical sense of the word from the point of view of international law, which means depriving Russia of all means to take aggressive actions against another state,” noted Ihor Zhovkva.
Particular attention was paid to Ukraine’s progress towards European integration and the results of the recent EU-Ukraine summit.
The deputy head of the presidential office briefed foreign parliamentarians in detail on the progress of the implementation of seven recommendations of the European Commission and on the state of implementation of the association agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
Ukraine is finalizing the implementation of all seven European Commission recommendations. The Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU is 72% implemented and we continue on the path of its full implementation. We expect a positive mid-term review of the EU this spring and the announcement of the start of accession negotiations at the end of this year. We are counting on the support of the Netherlands, because the accession of Ukraine to the EU is an integral part of our victory in the war against Russia,’ said Ihor Zhovkva.
