Laurence Boone, Minister of State for European Union (EU) Affairs of France, made a statement to the press upon entering the meeting of ministers from EU countries in charge of union affairs ahead of the Extraordinary Summit of EU leaders to be held on February 9 and 10. .
Regarding the earthquake in Kahramanmaraş, the French minister said: “Our hearts go out to those who lost their lives in the earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria and their families.”
Recalling that the EU Civil Protection Mechanism has been activated, Boone said that French President Emmanuel Macron has also offered to send a team to help in the field.
Boone stated that today’s meeting will discuss the issue of strengthening the strategic policies of the European industry, as well as the issue of immigrants and Ukraine.
Stating that negotiations on the immigration issue will focus on “external reasons,” Boone said the meeting will discuss the issues of combating illegal immigration networks and providing protection for asylum claims, including support for immigration countries.
