Norway will buy tanks from Germany
It is reported that Norway plans to purchase 54 new generation Leopard 2 tanks from Germany.
In a written statement from the Norwegian government, the statement was used: “Norway initially wants to purchase 54 tanks, but is open to purchasing an additional 18 tanks and plans to gradually add them to the armed forces inventory by 2031.”
In the statement, it was noted that the first shipments will be made in 2026 and this is a step to strengthen Norway’s defense capability.
Emphasizing the importance of close defense cooperation with Europe, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said: “By purchasing these tanks from Germany, we had the opportunity to have the same type of tanks as our northern neighbors and allies.
