France has extended the mandatory corona tests for travelers from China until February 15. Reuters reports. The French government today issued a decree to that effect.
Although Chinese representatives have reported that the peak of infection in China has ended, there are still experts warning of a new spike in rural China. Those areas are less stocked than urban areas and therefore will have to contend with a potential surge in cases as families move across the country around Chinese New Year.
Obliged
The mandatory corona test for Chinese travelers has been in effect in France since December 30, under which travelers must be able to submit a negative test result that is no older than 48 hours. The measure was introduced by the French after coronavirus cases exploded in China due to the abandonment of the zero-covid policy.
Originally, the measure was to be in place until January 31 for all flights from China, including transfers, and also included a rule requiring travelers to wear face masks on board aircraft.
