USA confused again by police brutality
Following the death of Tire Nichols, a black race, aged 29, in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, as a result of the violence he suffered while being detained by five police officers on January 7, the images of beatings released yesterday sparked widespread protests in the country.
Protests were held in many cities across the US after the release of footage of deadly police brutality against Nichols, who was seriously injured by five black police officers who repeatedly beat him in four minutes and died 3 days later at the hospital they took him to.
US President Joe Biden also said in a statement that he felt great pain and anger when he saw the video. Both President Biden and the family of Tire Nichols have called for the protests to be peaceful and not escalate into violence.

PROTESTS ARE EXPECTED TO GROW
In cities like Boston, New York, Los Angeles and Philadelphia, thousands of people took to the streets after the video was released. New York Mayor Eric Adams said he was amazed at what he saw in the video posted as a former police officer.
Authorities expect large-scale protests across the country over the weekend. For this reason, security measures are increased at many points. Schools were suspended in the city of Memphis yesterday afternoon, and events due to take place on Saturday were also cancelled. Black Americans make up 65 percent of the city of Memphis, which has a population of 628,000.
Five policemen, against whom investigations were opened, were arrested.
