The Croatian leader’s reaction to Berlin: “I didn’t know we were at war with Russia”
Croatian President Zoran Milanovic reacted to Germany’s statements on Russia.
Referring to German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock’s statement that “Europe is at war with Russia”, Milanovic said: “Croatia knew nothing of this.” Pointing out that the war in Ukraine is actually going on between the US and Russia, Milanovic said: “The German minister is out now and he says we have to unite because we were fighting with Russia. I didn’t know about that. Germany may be at war with Russia, good luck to them. I hope Berlin is luckier than it was in World War II.”
Noting that Croatia is not considering providing military support to Ukraine like Germany and England, the Croatian leader said: “Do you want us to go to war?” Noting that he has been in politics for a long time, but he has never seen “such madness”, Milanovic said the supply of tanks from Germany and the United States to Ukraine would only prolong the war.
