Instruction of the Chief of the General Staff of Israel to the army
According to a written statement from the Israeli army, Halevi held a meeting to assess the incursion in Jenin, which was attended by the Head of the Intelligence Service, the Commander of the Central Region, the Head of Operations, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Regions and representatives of Israel’s Shin-Bet Internal Security Organization (Shabak).
The meeting summed up the “Israeli forces attack on Jenin today to overthrow a cell that was planning to carry out attacks against citizens and security forces.”
In the statement, it was indicated that the Chief of the General Staff, Halevi, ordered an increase in the level of surveillance of the army and the continuation of the raids against possible attacks.
WHAT HAPPENED?
9 Palestinians were killed in the raid carried out today by Israeli forces in the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank. The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that 20 Palestinians were injured, four of them seriously.
A total of 29 Palestinians, including 5 children, have been killed in fires started by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since New Year’s Day. (AA)
