Attack on two churches in Spain: 1 priest dead, 4 wounded
In the information given in the Spanish press, it was recorded that a person who attacked two churches in Algeciras around 7:30 p.m. (9:30 p.m.) killed a priest with a machete and injured at least 4 people.
Diego Valencia, the priest of Nuestra Señora de la Palma, the largest church in central Algeciras, was reported to have died immediately after the attack.
It was reported that the person who was walking with a machete in the San Isidro neighborhood and attacked another church injured the priest and 3 other people with a machete. It was shared that the injured were not life-threatening.
Spanish state television RTVE announced that the attacker was a 25-year-old man of Moroccan origin and was captured by security guards.
Eyewitnesses said the attacker killed the priest with a machete after an argument.
The prosecutor’s office, which launched an investigation into the incident, was reported to have focused on the possibility of a terrorist attack. (AA)
