Scholz: We will bear the cost of the tanks to be supplied to Ukraine
Government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said in a written statement that the leaders discussed the security situation in Ukraine and support for Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression.
Hebestreit also stressed that the leaders agreed to continue military support for Ukraine in Euro-Atlantic coordination.

Stating that they will continue to support Ukraine, Scholz said in a statement after meeting with Icelandic Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdottir, noting that they have also supplied the country with weapons such as air defense systems and multi-barreled rocket launchers, as well as tanks.
Asked how much it would cost and who would take care of it after the decision to supply Ukraine with Leopard tanks, Scholz said: “I can’t tell you the exact cost here right now. But we will bear that (cost) ourselves.” he gave the answer.
Scholz noted that they assign effective defense tools such as battle tanks to Ukraine in close cooperation with other countries by taking responsibility for issues such as training, ammunition and repair. (AA)
