New government in Bosnia and Herzegovina formed after 115 days

The second concrete step was taken and the government was formed after Borjana Kristo of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) was elected as the new president of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina on December 28, at the emergency session of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Chamber of Deputies held today.

In the session, where the number of votes required for the approval of the Council of Ministers was 22, 23 deputies voted in favor of Kristo’s cabinet, while 19 deputies voted against.

The new government consisted of:

Zoran Tegeltija of the Union of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Minister of Finance and Treasury, Elvedin Konakovic of the People and Justice Party (NIP), Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zukan Helez of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDPBIH), Minister of Defense Nened Nesic of the Democratic People’s Union (DNS), Minister of Security, Stasa Kosarac of SNSD is the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Our Party Edin Forto is the Minister of Transport and Communications, Davor Bunoza of HDZ is the Minister of Justice, Dubrovka Bosnjak of HDZ is the Minister of Civil Affairs, Green Bosnia and Herzegovina Sevlid Hurtic is the Minister of Human Rights and Refugees.

It should be noted that the Democratic Action Party (SDA), the largest Bosnian party, was not included in the new government, headed by Bakir Izetbegovic, son of the late Aliya Izetbegovic, the first president of independent Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the country’s 2018 elections, the government could be formed 14 months later. (AA)
