Panic over ‘mystery disease’ in North Korea… Curfew declared
A 5-day curfew has been declared in the capital Pyongyang on suspicion of an undetected respiratory illness in North Korea.
According to the Yonhap report based on NK News, the authorities announced that a curfew was imposed in the capital to prevent the increase in the number of cases. The type of the disease has not yet been determined, but residents of the capital were asked to measure their body temperatures several times a day.
Local media reports indicated that people in Pyongyang stockpiled food in case the five-day curfew could be extended.
In North Korea, the first case of Covid-19 was announced in May 2022, while victory against the epidemic was declared in August. The Pyongyang administration was accused of failing to transparently disclose the number of cases and the number of deaths related to the epidemic. (AA)
