‘Secret documents’ found at home of former US Vice President Mike Pence
In a letter written by Pence’s attorney, Greg Jacob, to National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) official Kate Dillon McClure during the search of Pence’s Indiana home, who served as vice president to the president Donald Trump from 2017 to 2021. He said “few” confidential documents were found.
Jacob shared the information that Pence, as a precaution, hired a lawyer to inspect his home on January 16, following the discovery of confidential documents at the home and office of US President Joe Biden. Stating that the lawyer found a small number of documents containing potentially “sensitive and confidential” information, Jacob claimed that the lawyer did not look at the contents of these documents and immediately contacted the National Archives.
Sharing the information that documents labeled “confidential” may have been “accidentally boxed” in the last term of his vice presidency and taken to Pence’s personal home, Jacob noted that the former vice president was unaware of the existence of these documents in his house.
Jacob stated that Pence attaches great importance to the protection of confidential documents and is open to cooperation with the National Archives in this context. (AA)
