Jet’s response to Erdogan’s Swedish departure from the US: they’re ready

Reactions are mounting after Rasmus Paludan, who has Swedish and Danish citizenship and is known as a figure close to Moscow, caused the burning of the Koran near the Swedish Embassy in Turkey over the weekend.

President Erdoğan made a statement yesterday after the ugly action in which Paludan burned the Koran by informing the authorities in advance. “If the Swedish administration is so respectful of rights and freedoms, it will first respect the religious beliefs of the Republic of Turkey and Muslims. “I’m sorry if you don’t show this respect, you won’t get any support from us in NATO,” he said.

After his outrageous act, Paludan said, “I’m scared. It was not what he expected at all,” he said.

Erdoğan commented: “It is clear that those who caused such disgrace in front of our country’s embassy can no longer expect any kindness from us regarding their applications to join NATO… There is no such thing, do not expect such support from We”.

“BOTH COUNTRIES ARE PREPARED FOR NATO BECAUSE…”

Within hours of Erdogan’s statement, a quick response came from the United States. At the US State Department press conference, the ministry’s spokesman, Ned Price, answered questions from members of the press.

Price answered questions about the tension between Turkey and Sweden. While Price said Sweden and Finland are ready to join NATO, “you know our position on Finnish and Swedish NATO membership. You’ve heard this from our administration and members of Congress. We support your membership in NATO. Finland and Sweden are ready to join NATO. They are ready because they have military qualifications and our security cooperation with both countries goes back many years. We practice together, collaborate and share knowledge. Also, these countries are ready to join NATO because they have advanced democracies,” she said.

“WANTS TO WEAKEN NATO”

Underlining that they do not condone the act of burning the Koran, Price said: “Although it is legal, it is not appropriate. Legal can be scary. I think Sweden falls into that category in this case.”

Shortly before the burning of the Koran, another ugly action took place in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden.

Price said that Paludan, who carried out the act of burning the Quran, was a provocateur. “We believe that the people behind this incident deliberately wanted to weaken NATO and cause problems between our European allies and partners. “We feel that Finland and Sweden are ready to become NATO allies,” he said.

When asked by a reporter whether Erdogan’s words mean that the doors to the accession of these two countries are definitively closed, Price did not want to give a clear answer at first. But later, “Finland and Sweden are ready to join NATO, in our assessment. We have said it openly in public and we have said it openly in private gatherings. Our congress raised this issue clearly.” “Ultimately, Finland and Sweden should come to this decision and agreement together with Turkey,” Price said.
