EU sanctions on Iran
In the statement made by the European Council, it was indicated that the sanctions will be applied due to human rights violations in Iran.
Among the people who will be sanctioned are the Iranian Minister of Youth and Sports, Sayid Hamid Hazaveh Seccadi, some deputies, governors of some provinces, employees of the state media and some senior officials of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Army.
The list also includes units of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Army in some parts of the country, the Iranian Police Special Forces and some companies that provide security services.
164 PEOPLE, 31 ORGANIZATIONS
With the latest sanctions, the number of Iranians on whom the EU has imposed restrictive measures has risen to 164 and the number of organizations to 31.
The sanctions consist of a ban on travel to the EU, a freeze on assets and a ban on financing these individuals and organisations. In addition, the sale of certain tracking materials and devices to Iran that could be used as a means of public pressure is prohibited. (AA)
