Nearly 1 in 3 women in this country is raped.
The Higher Council for Equality between Women and Men (HCEFH) of the Prime Minister published a report on cases of sexism.
THE RESEARCH WILL BE SUBMITTED TO MACRON
The results of the research, which was carried out with 2,500 people over the age of 15, from October 5 to 26, 2022, will be presented to President Emmanuel Macron.
37 percent were forced to have sex without their consent
According to research conducted by the Viavoice Institute for HCEFH, while sexism has not decreased in the country, 37 percent of women have been forced to have sex without their consent.
1 IN 3 RAPED
While 80 percent of women said they were treated worse than men, almost a third said they had been raped.
Although cases of sexism and rape are widespread among young people, 26 percent of men find the reactions and measures against sexual violence exaggerated.
THE FRENCH AUTHORITIES ARE INSUFFICIENT TO FIGHT
A quarter of men between the ages of 25 and 34 in the country think that violence is necessary to be respected, while 40 percent of men, regardless of age, think that women should take care of their children.
Only 9 percent of men consider it normal for men to do housework. This rate was reflected in the report as 15 percent for men between the ages of 25 and 34.
82 percent of the country’s population wants the gender issue to be among the priority items on the government’s agenda.
HCEFH emphasized that the report is worrying and that the efforts of the French authorities on this issue are insufficient. (AA)
