Agriculture ministers meet in Berlin

The most important political event of the “World Forum on Food and Agriculture”, which takes place every year in the framework of the Green Week International Fair, has started the “Berlin Conference of Agriculture Ministers”.

Agriculture ministers and representatives of non-governmental organizations from nearly 70 countries are attending the conference, which is being held for the 15th time this year. During the one-day conference, agricultural, food and livestock policies in line with technological advances will be discussed, while solutions to current problems will be put on the table.

Vahit Kirişci, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, represents Turkey at the conference. Kirişci also holds bilateral meetings with representatives of other countries and international organizations that will participate in the conference.

The agriculture ministers will issue a joint final declaration today at the end of the conference.

The “Global Forum on Food and Agriculture” takes place on January 20 and 21 of this year with the theme “Transforming food systems: a global response to multiple crises”. In sessions at this year’s forum, trade and the role of trade in global food security will be discussed from all angles. How can we create crisis-resilient food supply systems? How can we protect biodiversity? How can we create climate friendly food systems? How can we develop cooperation for sustainable global food systems? looking for answers to questions.

The Green Week International Fair, the world’s largest fair in the field of agriculture, food and horticulture, continues in Berlin. More than 1,1400 companies from 60 countries participate this year in the fair. The companies exhibit more than 100 thousand products. Hosted for the 87th time this year, the fair is organized by Messe Berlin with the patronage of the German Farmers’ Association and the German Federation of Food and Beverage Industries.

Some 500,000 people are expected to visit the fair. The fair will remain open until January 29. (AA)
