Bomb attack on passenger train in Pakistan
According to national media reports, the passenger train from the city of Mach to Peshawar was the target of a remote controlled bomb placed on the tracks in the Bolan region.
In the attack, 8 carriages of the train, including the locomotive, derailed and 18 people were injured.
The authorities announced that another train was sent to the region for the safe evacuation of passengers.
Work continues to remove the overturned wagons from the rails. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
SEPARATION MOVEMENTS CONTINUE FOR TENS OF YEARS IN BELUCISTAN
Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest province, has the highest poverty rate in the country.
The province is also the center of separatist movements that have been fighting the Islamabad government for decades.
The rebels want to establish a separate state here, claiming that the central government has unfairly used Balochistan’s rich underground and natural gas resources.
INCREASED TERRORIST ATTACKS
On the other hand, the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) have recently increased their attacks.
On November 28, 2022, TTP announced on social media that the ceasefire initiated with the Islamabad administration on May 10, 2022 had ended and that it had ordered its members to attack security forces across the country. Pakistan considers TTP a terrorist organization.
According to data shared by the Islamabad-based center for security studies and research (CRSS), 601 people, including 290 security forces and 311 civilians, were killed and 741 injured in 506 terror attacks in Pakistan in 2022.
Most of the attacks were carried out in the border regions between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Organizations such as the TTP, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and ISIS-H claimed responsibility for most of these attacks.
Terror attacks in Pakistan in 2022 increased by 15 percent compared to the previous year. (AA)
