Travel warning from Turkey to Myanmar
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey has issued a travel warning regarding Myanmar due to the recent increase in ransom cases. The ministry statement said:
* “Situations are frequently encountered lately where our citizens are deceived by promises to provide internet jobs by some individuals or groups in the border regions of Myanmar, are detained while being smuggled into Myanmar and are held for ransom.
* It is important that our citizens ignore such job offers, do detailed research on companies before accepting potential job offers, and contact our Embassies in Nepido and related neighboring countries if necessary.
* Also, due to the ongoing state of emergency, conflicts and protests, our citizens refrain from traveling to Myanmar except in mandatory situations; In case of need, they are advised to contact our Embassy of Nepido regarding the security situation in the regions to which they will be traveling and to be attentive to their personal safety in all circumstances.”
