Flight system collapsed, air transport paralyzed
Hundreds of domestic and international flights across the country were canceled after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) system collapsed in the United States. System malfunctions, preventing pilots from accessing their flight plans, brought air travel to a standstill across the country.
It was reported that more than 700 planes were unable to take off and thousands of people were stranded at airports. The FAA urged pilots to be vigilant and announced that work is underway to reactivate the system.
The FAA also ordered airlines to suspend all domestic flights until 5:00 p.m. to “confirm the integrity of flight and safety information.”
Many passengers shared images of the airport stampede on social media.
Flight information lost due to system crash includes data critical to flight safety, such as runway status, bird hazard warnings, and accidents. The FAA has previously reported that this system is of great importance in reducing air accidents.
THE EXPLANATION ARRIVED
The US civil aviation authority, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), announced the gradual resumption of domestic flights that have been halted due to a technical malfunction in the flight control system (NOTAMS) that alerts pilots about potential hazards on their flight path.
