Israeli forces kill Palestinian teen in occupied West Bank
According to a written statement from the Palestinian Health Ministry, 21-year-old Ahmed Abu Junayd, who was seriously injured in the Israeli forces’ attack on the Balata refugee camp in eastern Nablus, died at the hospital where he was treated. .
Abu Junayd, who was shot in the head by Israeli soldiers, was being treated at Rufeyda Hospital in Nablus, and was said to be in critical condition.
The Israeli army also detained 15 Palestinians in various parts of the West Bank.
While Israeli forces, which frequently attack the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, arrest Palestinians on various charges, many Palestinian civilians fall victim to “lethal use of force” by the Israeli military.
The United Nations Organization (UN) declared that 2022 would be the bloodiest year in the West Bank since it began keeping records in 2005.
The UN noted that these deaths “in most cases occurred for reasons that appeared to be a disproportionate and lethal use of force by Israeli forces.”
Consequently, Israeli forces killed 220 Palestinians, including 168 in the occupied West Bank and 52 in the blockaded Gaza Strip, throughout 2022, while 48 of those who lost their lives were children. (AA)
