Zelensky: Violent clashes continue
Ukrainian President Zelenskiy addressed the citizens of Ukraine in a video message he posted and claimed that there were violent clashes on the front lines in the first week of the new year.
“Fierce fighting continues in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.” Zelenskiy emphasized that the strongest clashes on the Donetsk front took place in the direction of the cities of Bahmut and Soledar.
Noting that the cities in question are under the control of the Ukrainian army, despite intense attack attempts by the Russian army, Zelenskiy said: “This is one of the bloodiest places on the front.” saying.
“RUSSIAN INITIATIVES WILL NEVER WORK”
Accusing the Russian army of not abiding by the 36-hour ceasefire declared by the Orthodox in Ukraine on the occasion of Christmas, Zelenskiy claimed that the Russian attacks were carried out in Kramatorsk and other cities in the Donbas region within the hours of said ceasefire.
Underlining that they do not trust Russia’s “word”, Zelenskiy said: “Russia’s attempts to manipulate diplomacy and politics will never work.” he said.
Recalling that there was a prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine today, Zelenskiy added that 50 Ukrainian soldiers have been released and will continue to work for all Ukrainian prisoners to return home. (AA)
