Russia declares two-day ceasefire in Ukraine
The leader of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, called for a ceasefire in Ukraine during the Orthodox Christmas period from January 6-7. Patriarch Kirill stated that the ceasefire should be implemented from noon on January 6 to the evening of January 7, so that the Orthodox can attend ceremonies in churches.
KREMLIN: ATTRACTION TO IMPLEMENT
In a Kremlin statement, it was claimed that Russia declared a ceasefire in Ukraine on January 6 and 7. Russian President Putin also instructed the Russian Defense Ministry to implement a 36-hour ceasefire in Ukraine starting at 12:00 tomorrow.
UKRAINE: THE PROPAGANDA ELEMENT
Adviser to the Presidential Office of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak argued that the call for a ceasefire was a propaganda item. Podolyak, on his Twitter account, assessed the call for a ceasefire in Ukraine during the Orthodox Christmas period. “Therefore, the statement of the Russian Orthodox Church on the Christmas truce is a cynical trap and a propaganda item,” Podolyak said.
