The beaches of the TRNC are filled with drugs

In the communiqué of the Press Chief of the Police of the Ministry of the Interior of the TRNC, it was reported that a total of 75 kilograms of packed drugs, which impacted on some coasts of the country between December 18, 2022 and January 1, 2023, were collected from the coasts with the knowledge and coordination of the teams of the General Directorate of Police.

CALL TO THE PUBLIC

In the statement, citizens were asked to report suspicious packages and objects they saw on the shore to the nearest police station.

Interior Ministry officials announced that the seized drug is cannabis and will be destroyed after investigation.

DRUGS DETECTED IN THE GREEK SECTION

In Protara, in the Famagusta region of the Greek Cypriot administration, packages of drugs wash up on the shores intermittently.

In Greek Cypriot media news, the drug collected by the police was claimed to be 28 kilograms and an investigation was launched into its origin.

The Haravgi newspaper wrote that the drug packages that were laundered in southern Cyprus may be related to those laundered in the north, and that police have launched an investigation into the incident.
