Worrying expert report, days before the new year: 2023 may be the year of disaster

The Global Challenges Foundation, based in Stockholm, Switzerland, has shared its new report with the public, focusing on the threat, political crisis, war and global problems humanity may face in 2023.

While it is claimed that humanity and life on Earth are at high risk of facing many threats in 2023, experts listed them with their justifications. The 2023 disaster scenarios from the group, which is known for its efforts to raise public awareness and preparedness for potential disaster scenarios, are listed below.

While it was claimed that the world was at risk of a global nuclear war due to the Russia-Ukraine war in 2022 and no one could have foreseen it, it was claimed that the disaster of the floods in Pakistan and the waves of extreme heat in China and Europe were the steps of the disaster that is expected to occur in 2023. .

Experts claimed that the risk of nuclear war peaked after the United States dropped the atomic bomb on Japan in 1945.

THE RISK OF A NUCLEAR WAR INCREASES FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1945

In the Global Challenges Foundation report, it was stated that the risk of nuclear war and the use of nuclear weapons in the world was at its highest level after the US attacked Hiroshima and Nagasaki with an atomic bomb in 1945. While it was claimed that the US atomic bomb attack was unprecedented in world history, Kennette Benedict of the University of Chicago, who wrote the report, listed possible scenarios.

Benedict, who contributed to the report, said: “The use of nuclear weapons can lead to the death of many people, the formation of a cloud of dust to block the sun’s rays, the slowing down of the growth of food and the death of survivors of nuclear war into chaos. and violence before they starve.”

While the risk of using nuclear weapons in the Russia-Ukraine war was said to be at the highest level since the Cuban crisis, Benedict noted that North Korea will focus on nuclear weapons tests and that tension between India and Pakistan is also high.

ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTERS WILL INCREASE WITH GLOBAL WARMING

The report predicts that environmental disasters may increase with global warming and the climate crisis.

“Global climate change can have serious effects on food. Food production slows, hunger increases, and conflict and political uncertainty ensue as a result. However, while experts say that the global climate crisis will not change dramatically in a single year, they noted that this will be a long-term process.
