Unofficial results of local elections announced in TRNC

According to unofficial results, the ruling coalition of UBP, DP and YDH (Rebirth Parisi) entered the elections as an alliance, and UBP 6, DP 1 and 1 independent candidate they supported won the mayoralty.

While the CTP, the main opposition party, won 7 mayors, the TDP’s Mehmet Harmancı, who has been mayor of the capital Nicosia for 2 terms, reassured him.

The TRNC Supreme Board of Elections (YSK) indicated that 208,236 registered voters in the country voted in 768 ballot boxes to determine 18 mayors, 220 councilors, 240 caciques and 960 councils of elders, reported what happened.

The YSK announced that the results of the elections for the municipal council, where voters cast their ballots in local elections, as well as for the chieftain and the council of elders, will be released once the census is completed.

According to the electoral results, of the 6 districts considered the highest administrative unit of the state in the TRNC, 3 CTP won the mayoralty, 2 UBP and one TDP.

Making a press release after the elections, Prime Minister and UBP Chairman Ünal Üstel stated that his party won 7 mayoralties with its coalition partner DP, and that they won 8 mayoralties with the election of an independent candidate they support, adding: “We have no losses in this election. he said.

Üstel congratulated all the winning presidents and said: “We will continue to work with all our might to provide the best service to all the winning candidates. As a government we will embrace all the mayors who won and we will make the necessary contribution so that they can better serve the people”. he said he.

Tufan Erhürman, president of the main opposition CTP, also said at the press conference where he evaluated the election results, that the CTP won 7 mayors and that 3 of the 6 districts will be governed by the CTP presidents.

Wishing that the results of the local elections will be beneficial to the country, Erhürman stated that they wholeheartedly congratulated all the winning candidates.

TDP’s Mehmet Harmancı, who won the presidency for the third time in the capital Nicosia, addressed his voters after the results were announced.

Stating that they won the elections in a difficult process by competing against the candidates of the ruling parties and the main opposition, Harmancı said: “We knew this result because we trusted the people. We saw the light in the eyes of the people of Nicosia. We saw the love of Nicosia. Nicosia is a city to which we are attached with love and Nicosia has not left us unattended here.” he used his statements.
